An era of our textile business comes to an end

Consistency always means change! Our valued managing partner of the textile business Michael Schwägerl will end his active time at Jebsen & Jessen Hamburg Group at the turn of the year 2022/23.

Thus, 33 very committed and successful years in our family business are coming to an end. Through various tasks, positions and responsibilities, Mr. Schwägerl has always been a driving force for change and new ideas in the textile sector for which we are extremely thankful and want to wholeheartedly say “Thank you!”. He played a decisive role in orientation and sustained success of our textile business. And he always managed it with a great deal of entrepreneurial spirit.

In the 1990s, for example, he transformed the company from a product-oriented to a key account-oriented structure. With a focus on the discount/non-food textile business. In 2008, the L.E.G. warehouse handling company was acquired under his own responsibility. In 2011, Jefferson GmbH was acquired and later integrated into the Brands Fashion Group. The acquisition and integration of Brands Fashion/Clothing Network itself took place in 2016 /2017. Finally, at the beginning of this year 2022, Brands Logistics was founded as a subsidiary of the Brands Fashion Group as part of a business area optimization of the logistics functions.

Next year, Mr. Schwägerl will relocate to Asia, where he will focus on the management of our sister company Triton Textile Ltd.. A company he has been leading as Managing Director and co-partner since 2003. Here in Hamburg, he leaves behind a sustainably successful textile business with more than 200 employees and meanwhile a business volume of more than 200 million EUR.

As of 1 January 2023, Mr. von der Schulenburg will initially hold his position as Chairman of the Management Board of Textil (GmbH & Co.) KG in addition to his role as Managing Partner of the Jebsen & Jessen Hamburg Group, in close cooperation with Mr Klaus Löw and Mr Mathias Diestelmann, who, as the respective Managing Partners of Juritex and Brands Fashion, will also be appointed to the Management Board of Textil (GmbH & Co.) KG. Both will continue to successfully run their companies with unchanged responsibilities as usual.

We wish Michael Schwägerl much success and pleasure in his new but nevertheless familiar task!
