725 tons of greenhouse gas emissions compensated!

Since 2017 we, the Jebsen & Jessen Hamburg Group, compensate the amount of greenhouse gas emissions we emit into the atmosphere annually. The amount of greenhouse gases is calculated by categorizing the group’s total energy consumption into three scopes:

– Scope 1: the sum of all direct emissions caused by the vehicle fleet.

– Scope 2: the sum of all indirect emissions caused by energy consumption.

– Scope 3: the sum of all other emissions generated by business travel.

For the financial year of 2021, we compensated 725 tons of greenhouse gas emissions by investing in a climate protection project.

Our financial support went to the South Pole certified project to reforest and counteract vegetation degradation in Caazapa and Guairá.

Why did we choose this project?

For nearly 500 years, Paraguay has extended its grasslands and prairies for cattle farming. Because its main export is high-quality beef. Where the land historically was deforested and turned into these expansive grasslands, the soil over the years has been severely degraded by the hooves of cows. As deforestation continues to sweep through the Amazon rainforest, it has become vital to reforest such areas to relieve pressure on South America’s natural resources and curb harmful carbon emissions from the Earth’s atmosphere.
